Turkmen treasures: A collection of knotting art from the Ersari from the past century. The Ersari, Turkmen nomads from the north of Afghanistan, knotted carpets, kilim tent bags and other household items in order to be able to liv e in the yurts all year round on their hikes of their kind. The most striking feature of Turkmen carpets is their mostly geometric ornamentation and the red to red-brown Overall color. The main motif of this knotting work is the so-called "Gül", a mostly octagonal main motif that shows the tribal affiliation of these proud nomads. These Ersari works from the last century (1940 - 1960) are rare, irretrievable originals today. Nomadic and semi-nomadicism is also on the verge of extinction in Afghanistan. The hand-knotted workpieces of the Ersari collection are precious rarities from a private collection and were restored with much love and effort in the country of origin.
